I tried to quit gradually and only fooled myself. I thought that by lowering the amount of "friends" to a minimum I would be able to quit. But it didn't work and my addiction is still there. I still reproduce and read reproduced posts that stand out there hoping for the idiotic "like". A meme that doesn't really mean acceptance or care and is at its best a "done". Anyway, somehow the "like" from another addict reinforces your bad habit and I think there is a powerful reason why there isn't a "don't like": the ugly feeling of "not being liked".
We forget that it's a marketing machinery, an excellent tool to organize people in forums or causes, to bring people together but other than that is a waste of time and can be a serious addiction.
I feel very lucky I didn't even try twitter.
I wish you write again your beautiful and meaningful pieces now that you freed yourself.

I'm proud of you.
You're brave, cold turkey is the way.
