"This chart shows select nations where the income share of the top 1 percent was highest in 2005. These are all countries with income-inequality problems. But none of them can beat the United States, where in 2005 the top 1 percent gobbled up 17 percent of national income. The best Argentina can do is tie us." (Slate.com)
It makes people mad when I say it ...but here goes again:
The only difference between the US economy and the Argentine economy is: the US´debt is denominated in its own currency.

Your saying that doesn't make me mad but rather seriously dents your credibility (already very limited on economic matters) in my mind.
The reason the U.S has a middle class is because of the labor movement. The eventual fall of the unions in the 70's and 80's, part do to corruption within and conservatives hammerin away at workers rights has let us to were we are, A few folks making money , not by work but speculating on the market and the rest of us without jobs, The worst of it is we have corporations buying air time telling the middle class that its the poor's fault, the immigrants fault and if we give them more of our money so they can go invest it were they can reep huge prophets , we'll all be better off. The best part people are listening to these clowns. Maybe when they turn the U.S into a third world country , our labor will be cheeo enuff for them to invest it. Its a sad state of affairs
Al, I don´t think our Anonymous friend above would agree.
The middle class of the US was built by union labor and everyone benefited whether or not they were card carrying members.
Reagan and Thatcher convinced people that we´d be better off without the right to organize and collectively bargain.
We are reaping that whirlwind as we speak.
Let´s hope that Anon has enough money to actually be a real republican. Most likely, he´ll be left out in the cold.
