Well, it's almost midnight but, although I slept like a baby last night in the campo (like always), right now, I'm bushed.
We got back in time for me to take a stab at the problems that Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 users were having with this blog.
What a pain ie7 is! Some blogs and websites are actually BLOCKING ie7 users. Mr. Gates and Co. seem to be deliberately flaunting convention ...and making life tough for developers that make sites with Mozilla/Firefox in mind.
Mozilla/Firefox is truly the superior browser ...ask anybody. Entonces, you should think about getting it today. I was talking to Tom of Sexy Spanish Club at the inaugural meeting of the Quaffers about this. He was hesitant to download it (FREE) on his new mac. Don't worry about it. Mozilla/Firefox is easy, safe, and everybody loves it.
I'll have some clean-up to do with links and such ...but that will come along. My apologies to Mozilla/Firefox users but fully half of readers use Internet Explorer ...and an ever increasing percentage of those have upgraded to the buggy, malware, Version 7 of IE (usually thru automatic updates.
We here at Yanqui Mike Buenos Aires Argentina are working around it like everyone, everywhere.

What is the quaffers?
More on the QUAFFERS ...to come!
I heard they were a group of manly men, very good looking and can down a pint faster than you could say Gualeguaychu. ;-)
That´s the rumor anyway.
Tom,
Listen to the Yanq. I have a Mac at home and I actually use Firefox and Thunderbird. In fact, what is nice is that I use these programs at home on my Mac and on my PC at work.
If I can figure out how to do it then you should have no problem doing it either.
dude I hear ya. I spend wayyy too much time making sure shit works with both firefox and ie. ff has bugs, too, believe it or not. It sucks with secure servers. IE7 is a total complete nightmare no holds barred.
Off topic, just wanted to tell ya I found your blog recently and really dug your sep. 11 article, I don't think I've ever heard anyone express the exact mix of anger and disgust I felt in leaving the US and moving to Argentina quite so well. Too bad it's getting too expensive here. Me and my gf are living in las canitas and have watched the prices almost double in the past year, locally. We're thinking about moving to Neuquen or someplace small and quiet where it's still cheap.
Anyway, I like the blog.
Josh
As much as IE7 sucks, IE6 and IE5 were way worse. I agree with Frank. I use Firefox on both my PCs and Macs.
Send me an email of what was going wrong and maybe I can help you debug it. Will work for beer.

Hey Josh,
Thanks for the commiseration. I didn't have much choice... today's browser share shows IE 6&7 weighing in at 60% of my visitors. Firefox users amount to 26%.
I'm glad you made it down to América! What part of the old country are you from? Yeah, things are more expensive now. You can still get by in BsAs like before... but you really have to look around unlike 4 years ago when the difference between the cheapest brand and the most expensive brand wasn't worth doing the math!
Our ranch is 300Km away from our apartment here. My wife would never live without digs in the capital... but occasionally think about how much cheaper it would be in the campo. Neuquen is very beautiful they tell me. Of course, you can spend a lot of dough there if you're too close to Barriloche! They make some good beer in El Bolson!
Mike
Work for Beer! Beer for Work!
There's a beautiful symmetry there.
I'll give you a ring after your big meetin'.
Mike
Mike,
You forget about cerveseria Blest in Bariloche proper. Don´t tell me you have been to the area and have not sampled a proper pint.
We're from LA...can't say I miss it. The eponymous capital of Neuquen is nice, small, out of the way, inexpensive, although people in the area consider it a big city. You can drive from one end to the other in about ten minutes (except at midnight, when the main street turns into complete gridlock with horns honking...lol) Seemed like a paradise to us, but maybe that was 'cause we'd been stuck in General Roca for two weeks with a broken-down car...Roca's a little too much like Bakersfield...
Haven't been to Neuquen at all yet.
But when I do... Blest is first stop!
Personally, I think it's a great idea to move to other parts of Argentina like Neuquen City and others if/when the NYC-like pinch gets to be uncomfortable! I'd do it in a heartbeat if my missus would go along with it.
Figure: after a few years in Capital, you've probably dug it all you are going to... save for a few brave forays every now and then. Were humans. We do what we do... then we kick back considerably.
And if you are completely "portable" like most expats, why not? Isn't one of the million reasons we left because we didn't want to be "owned" by the job/ possesions/ etc. ?
Moving to an albeit smaller "regional capital" is probably gonna rekindle whatever is your level of exploration... and la gente del campo are truly wonderful and truly different from the truly wonderful porteños.
Argentina is such a feast. I say graze a little.
Actually it´s in Bariloche. I remember having the bock there.
Bariloche
Yikes, that link was actually supposed to be titled Blest not Bariloche. It will take you to the Beerhunter´s beer rating site of that brewery.
