Road Trip. Destination: La PLata

Buenos Aires – Thursday – A Cool autumn night – The 1-2 Shankees are all set for their weekend road trip to La Plata to face the undefeated Japanese Association Baseball Club. Looking to bounce back after last week’s dismal display of baseball, the Shankee Skipper is confident that his team of Expats will take the field with a more proper baseball attitude. “I think the players making the trip are going there to win, La Plata is not the kind of place you go for a joyride,” says Perry. Joining him on this southern journey are none other than: the Canadian Wonder Adam Webb, Gabba Gabo Perdomo, Ruben Breadbasket Bravo, Alex Family Uhls, Strawbarry Floch, Conner Phone Home Elliot, David Smooth Criminal Mickelsen, Jungle George Gutierrez, Brian “Out to” Hung, Nandrin Nan of your business Louis, David Schlagan die Baseball Roudonat, Julio The Bison Briceño, and Pablo Exxon Valdez, who says he wants teriyaki sauce on his milanesa. The last time the Shankees made the journey to La Plata was on board the Shankee Shuttle for the 2011 season opener. Ironically enough, the Shankees were the home team, but they were buena onda enough to visit the Japanese Association due a field shortage. The Skipper recalls that memorable autumn day, “It was a horrid experience, we got lost going there, the shuttle almost ran out of CNG, we were in the middle of butt F… nowhere and we had to forfeit in the 6th cause we had no pitcher. I also remember my foot was in a boot and I had no bourbon. It was a nightmare!” This time there is no shuttle, and the Shankees will have to rely on a couple rides and the train, so perhaps the effort of getting there will push them to make the trip worthwhile by way of a victory. But, I am not a shrink, ladies and germs, just a mere writer turned Shankee fan. Reporting from backwards Buenos Aires, Jack Green for the Shankee Press.
