LOTS of UNEXPECTED conversation tonight at Drinking Liberally Buenos Aires about the scurrilous sham of the "meeting" of Democrats Abroad Argentina last week.

There seems to be growing support for my allegation that last week´s "meeting" was a bald-faced attempt by less than ½ dozen members to steal the organization from the almost 500 members who have worked so hard to found DAA.

Made me feel good.  I thought that nobody cared.

Here is my complaint ...duly submitted to our DA International Executive Committee ...it is short and sweet and to the point (the full text can be accessed at http://www.democratsabroad.org/node/12659):
"1. the venue of the original meeting was changed by persons no longer holding office, leaving some members still assembling at the originally announced meeting place.

2. at this subsequently announced meeting, non-members and non-US citizens crowded the venue.

3. although there seemed to be an attempt to identify members from non-members, no roll call of members was made and there was no attempt to acertain that a quorum had been attained.

4. after approximately 1 hour, without announcement, a member (unknown) convened a meeting of less than a dozen members and non-members in a corner of the room without any attempt to allow the body to decide upon a chair.  No attempt was made to adopt or modify the agenda.  No vote was taken on any issue.

5. members, non-members, and foriegn nationals outside that corner of the room were unaware that a meeting had been called to order.

6. members, non-members, and foriegn nationals outside that corner were unaware that the meeting had been adjourned.

7. the entire meeting lasted less than two minutes.  No motions were made to adopt the agenda.  No votes were taken on any matter regarding the seating of candidates nor any other issue outside of a small group in the corner of the room.

8. When a candidate for office, Bill Hammond, asked me when the meeting was to be called to order, I asked the room on his behalf.  We were informed, by Deby Novitz,  that the meeting had been called to order and had been adjourned."
I, of course, am looking for any and all good Democrats here in Argentina to sign-on to my effort to demonstrate that the sham attempt at a meeting of DAA´s membership was nothing less than election fraud.

If you are so inclined, we members of Democrats Abroad Argentina will be happy to have you among our numbers to prevent anyone from achieving elected offiice outside our bylaws and the principles of the Democratic Party of the US ...of which we are an integral part.
