That´s right fans! Our very own Paul Perry, the Captain of The Buenos Aires Shankees will be our special guest at Drinking Liberally this Monday.
Paul is a published poet ...and if you know anything about baseball ...that´s NO contradiction in terms!
As you know, we are doing everything we can do here at Yanqui Mike to raise funds to keep our Boys of Summer here in Buenos Aires going for another season ...but this season is TOUGH. They need MONEY. Sometimes nothing else will do.
Right now, The Shankees Organization has a paypal account to which you can make donations ...just send an email to baseballba@hotmail.com ...and they´ll send you back a paypal form that will allow you to donate any amount you like.
For those of you who don´t have a paypal account ...they are working on other methods.
Please come out in support ...with yer dough.
The Buenos Aires Shankees are in dire straits this season.
The famous Shankee Shuttle has a bad case of blown engine (about $700 dollars worth!) ...and the team has broken many a bat swinging against teams of other tough expats here from all the great baseball playiing nations ...right now, the Cubans are the champeens ...and it will take more than HEART to give them a run for their money.
...a run for their money. That´s the rub, ladies and germs. There ain´t no money in The Shankees Organization to repair the shuttle that not only take the players to the Estadio Nacional de Beisbol ...but all the fans too.
NO amount of LOVE is going to help this time ...what they need now is MONEY. Filthy lucre, nada más.
Maybe you worked hard for your place in the sun ...maybe you stole your fortune ...maybe your Dear Ol´ Dad left you in good stead...
...it doesn´t matter. How ever you MADE YER BONES... our men who take to the field each and every time are now in need of bats, baseballs, gloves, and engine repairs.
In case you thought this was Little League... lemme tell ya, I don´t know how many seasons The Shankees have played in the Buenos Aires League with all the heavy hitters of other expats ...but they are in their most desparate hours. Equipment has always been tough ...but now, the Shuttle is down and opening day is less than a month away.
It´s time to give now and give BIG.
