There really isn't much time left, if any. But it's been suggested to me that simply by letting Argentina's "cow-industrial complex" that grass-fed is what we want, we could make some ripples in this pond.
No one will actually know the answer ...but really that's not the point. That question politely posed in our foreign accents will catch the ear of enterprising Argentines and they'll start to ask too.
Feedlot beef already comprises 40% of all beef produced in Argentina and it won't stop there. Feedlots are government supported ...they can't survive without their subsidies. Grass-fed rancher do not receive subsidies.
Once it's gone, it's gone. Pastures get converted to cropland but cropland does not get converted to pasture. Give it a try. Ask. It might save some of the famous Argentine beef for everyone.

this is a sad state of affairs. the goverment should be outlawing the practice not subadizing it. Argentine beef should be protected as a national treasure. Here in the states its yet to be seen how badly we've injured our health, our eviroment and our economy with these practices. Its only getting worse. The few that can afford grass fed beef and the few real food idems in places like whole foods will thrive and the poor will get sicker and fatter on plastic foods and antibiotic ridden meat.
sad
