Friday is Immigrants Day

Some cities and towns in Argentina are famous for their Día de los Inmigrantes celebrations. Here in Capital, they don't publicize it like they used to... but there's always a great spread with lots of booths from at least a couple dozen nationalities.

The booths all have ethnic foods and drinks (the cubanos and the brasileros have especially good coctails!) Actual spicy hot food can also be found!

The grounds of the Hotel de los Inmigrantes hosts the event and the actual "hotel" has slowly developed a decent museum that illustrates the great wave of arrivals during the time when Buenos Aires vied with top destinations in the Americas for making a new life and home.

Not surprisingly, the Yanq usually makes the German tent his hub for all the various forays. Hang around there long enough and... well... PROSIT!

I don't think they do much here in Necochea for Immigrant's Day, but we do have a festival in the summer called the Feria de Colectividades. All of the different cultural groups set up a booths with food and drink, and there are music/dance performances.

I'm sure the celebration in BsAs is fun. Take pictures!
