One evening I mentioned to the owner of the Buenos Aires Expatriates Group that
I feel that a poor Argentine has a much better chance of getting medical care than a poor Yanqui. He literally sputtered in red, white & blue indignation and said that I had become an "America hater."

I remember when I first moved here....
Wife went to the dentist and told me about the jokes that the dentist told her while cleaning her teeth.
[record scratching noise]
Me: What!? The dentist actually cleaned your teeth? He doesn't have assistants to do that? He did everything?
Wife: Huh? [confused look] Uh yeah, he has an assistant but he did everything.
Me: Wow. Usually the only time I ever saw a dentist was at the last minute, when he would peek into my mouth before telling me I could go. Or when he pulled a wisdom tooth or had to drill. The rest of the time they all just sat in their offices. AND we had to pay extra for dental coverage.
Yeah, kinda like lawyers in that they make more money NOT going to trial.
Somebody once told me, "Here in America (US), if you get a toothache... you hope it goes away.
What is it about you that you get those types of reactions. I must missunderstand you or something. I don't get that impression of you at all. Since when has it become un-American to critizise your own country. Being critical of the government is as American as Apple Pie. If there is one thing that is really wrong in the States it is the healthcare industry.
But it is true, the care in the Public Hospitals is very good here and FREE to ALL! Despite the dodgey conditions, I have received very attentive and thorough care. One may wait awhile, but once you are in, the doctors are very thorough.
It's a shame people try to put you in the American hater box, it's what people do when they don't have a legitimate response.
You have to consider the source... the guy that said that isn't very representative of anybody.
